Cold Spring, New York

Back in April (on Earth Day!) my roommate and I packed up some buddies and drove north of New York City to Cold Spring to go hiking. Cold Spring is also accessible by Metro North, and trailheads start near the train station as well. Proximity to public transportation and a short ride or drive away from Brooklyn make Cold Spring the perfect day trip for trail babies. At least, that's what I've dubbed my mountain crew.

Despite a snowstorm here in NYC the day after the Spring Equinox, a change of season will surely be on its way soon -- and with that, Festival season! I'm teaming up with Teva, a footwear brand I've worked with over the years <3 to give 5 lucky winners and their friends a pair of Teva Originals and a $100 gift card.

Enter by following the instructions on this Instagram post. The contest ends 3/30!

In addition to the giveaway, Teva also asked myself and few other bloggers what our perfect festival style is. You can check out the "Worn Well" feature here

This year, if time allows, I want to make it to the Newport Jazz Festival. I've always somehow missed it in the general summer hooplah, but if I'm able to make my way up this year, you can be sure I'll be bringing my pair of Tevas (or 5) along.

Several weeks back just as Fall was turning into Winter I took a trip to Philadelphia to visit my friend Leslie. We had planned to go apple picking, albeit a little late in the season, to a nearby farm in Media, PA. By the time I got to Philly, some cold weather had affected the farm and there were no more apples to pick.

However, we were able to drive out and visit the farm and farm animals, walk around the grounds, have some apple cider and shop at the local market. Above are some photos from my trip.

Fruit picking is one of those quintessential Fall activities that celebrate the harvest, and I really wanted to leave NYC to spend some time outdoors. If you decide to check it out next season, I recommend Linvilla Orchards. It's just about a 30 minute drive away from the city of Philadelphia!
