VENN Skincare (Sing Up for Free Sample!)

I received a sample package of VENN Skincare's Age Reversing All-In-One Concentrate to test out prior to their launch. The formula claims there is "no need for toner, essence, serum, ampoule, lotion, cream, or any other product in your skincare regimen (except for sun protection)." WOAH! Armed with my new 1-step concentrate, I followed the instructions to simply cleanse and apply the concentrate, both morning and night.

I did keep an extra step after cleansing, and that's my eye cream. Shout out to Kiehl's Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment, which I've been using the about two years. So, with just my eye cream and VENN concentrate, here were my results after 14 days*:

  • Smoother skin texture
  • Hydrated, soft and brightened skin
  • Sometimes I get grooves on the tops of my cheeks if I haven't slept enough (cheek dimples?) but the concentrate made my skin nice and plump!
  • Firmness
  • I also want to add here that the application leaves a weightless finish. I prefer a lighter moisturizer, not something heavy that I can feel on my face.

I have to admit I was a bit skeptical this product could eliminate everything else from my routine, but it did just that. However, I think for my skin and for my purposes, this product is probably best nestled in my routine as a travel product (who wants to lug a ton of products around on vacation), or when my skin is relatively calm and I don’t need specialized treatments.

I can't imagine ditching my spot treatments for when I break out. If you don't get breakouts, then this product will probably be your one-stop-shop holy grail item, and I hate you.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and I can 100% say the VENN Skincare All-in-One Concentrate lived up to the hype. If you would like to try out a sample, click here to sign up!!

*VENN Skincare reports 90% of users said no further steps were needed in their daily skincare regimen to keep their skin feeling hydrated, nourished, and re-vitalized. (Based on a survey of 50 women with twice daily use for six weeks).

Glossier

I'm a new fan of Glossier. From the branding to the packaging, and the actual product itself, Glossier has become a staple in my daily makeup routine. Here's my product breakdown:

Haloscope in Topaz: This color is perfect for my olive skin tone. It is golden and shimmery, but not in a glittery way. The highlight is formulated with a solid core of moisturizing vitamins and an outer ring of pigment. Even if I just leave my house with a bare face, I'll at least swipe on some mascara and Haloscope. Perfection.

Balm Dotcom: I love anything rose scented, so this was an obvious choice. I like how hydrating the balm is. I use this on my lips 90% of the time, but it's helpful for cuticles as well.

Priming Moisturizer: I'd been eyeing this product for a while, but was waiting until I ran out of my regular moisturizer. After reading all the hype, I decided to give it a go. The hype is real, you guys. It's a multi-benefit moisturizer that is hydrating and perfectly primes the skin for makeup (or not!) I've noticed an improvement in my overall skin texture.

Generation G: Though I love lipstick, I'm not the type to spend a lot of time with priming, lining, and filling in my lips. I don't like that perfectly "done" look, either. I like my lipstick smudged around the edges a little bit sort of like you just kissed someone, a little undone in an effortless way. Easy application is also key for me to fall in love with a lip product. Generation G checks all the boxes. I have it in "Zip." I will note that my natural lip color is a dusty rose, so this lipstick takes more than just a swipe for the color to show up.

Easy Holiday Makeup

holiday makeup

I like to think I have the time and patience to learn how to do really elaborate makeup looks, but that just isn't the case. However, I do like makeup and I like to experiment. So I do it on my own terms. Especially for holiday, I like to look like I at least made an effort, haha.

The eye look is really simple, but striking at the same time, with a wash of color all over the lids. Some people say you should choose a color on your eyes OR a color on your lips. I say, screw it. I choose both. For this look, you really just need a nice base with some highlighter, and color on your lids and eyes. Below, find my steps for this easy makeup look for your next holiday party.

1. Cleanse: Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Soap

This cleanser is so gentle and perfect for mornings when I have either no product on my face, or just a night cream or oil. It has pieces of seaweed in it, so it acts as an exfoliant.

2. Hydrate: Tula Beauty Urban Defense Hydration Mist

Tula skincare products are formulated with probiotics. I really feel like since I've started using this mist, which is supposed to protect your skin from environmental toxins, I've had to mask less and have seen an improvement in my skin - it doesn't feel as grimey at day's end when I've been out in city streets all day long. Hoorah! And it smells like roses. Double win.

3. Serum: Elizabeth Arden Superstart Skin Renewal Booster

Arden's serum improves the effectiveness of the skincare products you layer on top. I use this serum in my daily morning and night time routine.

4. Eye Cream: Kiehls's Creamy Eye Treatment

Some mornings, this eye cream is the only thing that makes me look alive! It's formulated in such a way that it doesn't migrate to any other area than where you apply it. Pro-tip: you can also put eye cream on your laugh line and in between your brows on the frown line to prevent (or reduce the appearance of) wrinkles in those areas.

5. Moisturize: Glossier Priming Moisturizer

Moisturizes and primes in one step. This gives my skin a really nice texture, as well.

6. Base: Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in "Medium/Deep"

I usually go for a BB cream instead of a foundation because most foundations feel to heavy on my skin. This cream gives a dewy finish.

7. Bronzer: Trestique Bronzer Stick " Brazilian Bronze"

Trestique packages their products with makeup on one end, and a brush on the other. This bronzer is creamy and blends really well.

8. Blush: Milk Makeup Lip/Cheek in "Quickie."

This color stick is super creamy and blendable. I found it this summer and pretty much wear it every. single. day.

9. Eyes: NYX Cosmetics Hot Singles Eyeshadow in "Heat."

I applied this shadow all over my lid and also underneath my lid under my waterline. The color is pretty intense straight out of the pot so I opted not to use a primer.

10. Lips: Glossier Balm DotcomBH Cosmetics Creme Luxe Lipstick in "Moody Merlot."

This lipstick is a steal, currently at 50% off. The line comes in a bunch of colors, I also like "Pop Cultured" shade as well.
